IGNOMINIOSA MENTE (Ignominious Mind), double solo exhibition, OGA, Roma, Italy, 19-30/8/2021

Artists: Morgana Mayer, Werther Germondari.

The contempt and shame that accompany such dishonourable actions as those displayed and projected in this exhibition are truly worthy of ignominious minds. The interesting thing, however, is that all this does not necessarily have to be seen by those who do not want to, but at the same time it is only fair that those who do want to can 'quietly' indulge their curiosity, and then decide 'which side to be on'. Or discover even more intelligently that there are no sides to take... Of course, the fateful 'collective conscience' will undoubtedly think that those visible actions are worthy of 'ignominy', but the collective conscience, with increasing attention, could perhaps in the future also evolve for the better, paradoxically passing through the apparent 'worst'. Indeed, precisely because of it. Morgana Mayer describes her video 'DegradAction' as "a strong, extreme, anti-fiction film that proposes a surreal idea of female eroticism. A strong critique of contemporary dehumanised society. Only degradation can give humanity and poetry". Werther Germondari also wanted to take part in this constructive 'carnage' but, as usual, with images that approach the theme in a more 'light' and desecrating way, in keeping with his style. And once again without any fear of being judged by a 'collective conscience' that he knows is certainly no less ignominious, but simply more hidden, as always, and always has been…
