Artists: Koldo Almandoz, Claudio Beorchia, Pierre Yves Clouin, Nina Engeln, Werther Germondari, Edoardo Herrera, Vincenzo Monticelli Cuggiò, Yevhen Samuchenko, Ela Wysakowska Walters, Liz Wilson.

Three years after the exhibition 'Diversamente Concettuali', held at the OGA in 2016, real spaces and geographies of the mind come back to meet and mingle in the works of ten international artists, with works as usual coming from the Collection of the Ospizio Giovani Artisti.

Koldo Almandoz (Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain, 1973) has written several short films, documentaries and experimental pieces, such as Belarra (2002), Columba Palumbus (2007) and Hubert Le Blonen azken hegaldia (The Last Flight of Hubert Le Blon, 2014). His first feature, Sipo phantasma (Ghost Ship, 2016), screened in the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section at San Sebastian. In 2017 he returned to Zabaltegi-Tabakalera with the short film, Plágan (Plague). In 2008 he was a member of the Altadis-New Directors Jury in San Sebastian.

Claudio Beorchia (Vercelli, Italy, 1979) is intrigued by the complexities of the surrounding world, especially when they affect society, make human beings feel the most vulnerable and powerless, or are produced by human beings themselves under the illusion to be able to take advantage of or control them. He tries to draw attention on these aspects using multiple media to create works and processes being as eloquent and meaningful as possible, in a continuous search of formal synthesis and effectiveness, in order to achieve a deep and direct involvement of the observer.

Pierre Yves Clouin (Paris, France, 1956) has been working exclusively in film since 1995. He was born and is based in Paris. He studied architecture at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, and later exhibited his paintings and photos. His work has been honoured with prizes and distinctions such as the Silver Spire Arward San Francisco International Film Festival and Institut français Hors les murs residency Film, video/ Cinema. His videos have been selected in festivals worldwide.

Nina Engeln (Berlin, Germany, 1979) lives and works in Cologne. After receiving her Diploma in 2013 she received the postgraduate degree 'MeisterschülerIn' from the Academy of Fine Arts Dresden in 2015. Engeln has exhibited in Germany, Austria and France. In 2011 Engeln received a grant for European Union student exchange from Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, Austria. “Investigating the dichotomy of liberty and anxiety I started considering transitional periods and interstages. I detect it possible to freeze in fear of freedom and contrary notice the advantage of agitation”.

Werther Germondari (Rimini, Italy, 1963) Visual artist, performer and filmmaker. Interested in innovative experimental dynamics that are neo-conceptual and situational, characterized by a taste for the ironic and surreal, Germondari has experimented for 35 years through many different expressive media (from painting to installations, photography to film, videos to live performance). Germondari's works have also been shown in solo exhibitions where he focuses on hidden elements highlighted in styles. In 2013 he founded the Ospizio Giovani Artisti.

Edoardo Herrera (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1977) he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Visual Arts at the Antonio Berni institute (Buenos Aires). He specialized in the art of ceramics at the Istituto G.Ballardini in Faenza and followed a course in holistic ceramics and shamanic techniques at the Condorhuasi Institute in Buenos Aires. 'Upload', the video in the exhibition, tries to describe the strength we can sense dwelling in certain sacred places as Antequera’s Dolmens in Andalucía, as well as our inner presence that allows us to be ‘here and now’.

Vincenzo Monticelli Cuggiò (Napoli, Italy, 1969) Debuts in 2006 in Galleria Gallerati with an intimate research in abstract style; he then directs his own conceptual path to the urban context interpreted in an objective key. Since 2010 he has made exclusively unique pieces, without any proof of author, conceived as non-replicable creatures exposed to the irreversibility of real dynamics. In Galleria Gallerati he was sworn and reviewer for some competitions. Since 2013 he has also been a stage photographer and documents installations and performative events.

Yevhen Samuchenko (Odessa, Ukraine, 1977) Inspired by Mother Nature and our Universe. Shooting nature and street scenes, but most of all I was attracted to night shooting. At night shooting I like its slow pace you can break away from the bustle of the day, and because of the long exposure shooting process does not interfere with the contemplation of the starry sky. Consciously watching the majestic night sky, I feel like a single particle of the Universe, merging into a single whole with it.

Ela Wysakowska Walters (Gdynia, Poland, 1974) Her practice is marked by the use of diverse art media – traditional, new as well as those that are not usually associated with art. She likes the condition of uncertainty, of being on the threshold. Walters runs many art outreach projects for people not connected with art. She likes investigating otherness; the process of its appearing. Her role is to penetrate beneath the visible surfaces. She is looking for connections and likes working at meeting points of physical and mental spaces. She is waiting for holes and raptures to appear in reality.

Liz Wilson (Pembury, Kent, UK, 1987) has graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from the Royal College of Art in 2017, a Postgraduate Certificate in Post-Compulsory Education from the University of Brighton in 2009 and a BA (hons) in Illustration and Animation from the University of Gloucestershire in 2008. She currently holds the position of Sessional Lecturer and Printmaking Technician at the University for the Creative Arts. Liz has exhibited works both in the UK and internationally within various art institutions.

Koldo Almandoz (San Sebastian, Spagna, 1973) Ha studiato giornalismo all'Università di Navarra, poi è andato a New York per studiare cinema.

Nina Engeln (Berlino, Germania, 1979) vive e lavora a Colonia. “Investigating the dichotomy of liberty and anxiety I started considering transitional periods and interstages. I detect it possible to freeze in fear of freedom and contrary notice the advantage of agitation” (N.A.).

Werther Germondari (Rimini, 1963) Artista visivo, performer e filmmaker.
